Anderson PowerPole connectors have become the de-facto standard for powering amateur radio gear. Quality is great, and it makes it easy to get on the air.
Most folks use red for positive, and black for negative. I use yellow & black to differentiate solar connectors. For 12v battery connections, you need 2 housings and 2 contacts for each connector.
Connectors
Housings
| Colour | What I use it for |
|---|---|
| Red | Battery 12v Positive Terminal |
| Black | Battery 12v Negative Terminal, Solar Negative Terminal |
| Yellow | Solar Positive Terminal, Quick connect counterpoise |
Tools
| Crimping Tool | These kind of cheapo crimpers aren’t fantastic but if you take your time, they do the trick. |
| Contact Tool | Makes it slightly easier to remove PowerPole contacts from housings. |
| PowerPole Sleeves | A bit of a pain to use (I make a small slit with side cutters, then jam the wire through). |
